Bobby McGeorgey George

{For 18 months – Jan ’17 to Jul ’18 – I’m posting our letter to Miranda while she's on her mission to Cochabamba, Bolivia.  Our letter titles are taken from a list of family sayings & catchphrases we recorded onto a pillowcase she has with her.  You can read her adventures on her mission blog: www.hermanamadsen.blogspot.com!}

There is a frog in this letter, hence the subject.  =)  Ok, this is actually mostly about animals!

But first, there's a shark.  Morgan dissected sharks in Biology on Tuesday.  It looked so cool!

Then there was a mouse.  Sterling brought in a toy from the field, and lost track of it again.  So the dogs rushed to the rescue and chased it around for us.

But then THEY lost it, too... until Thursday night when they had this funny episode with it.  We'll get to that later.

Wednesday, Dad went to the State Capitol with Halle & Kierste and the 5th grade.

They got to have a class with Representative Mike Kennedy, who is also a Dr. that Dad has worked with.  The cool thing is that as soon as Rep. Kennedy saw Dad during his speech, he talked about him and how they had worked together.  We sat next to them last year at the Christmas dinner for the hospital, and they have 8 kids... such nice awesome people.  H&K got chosen to come up and hold a zero for his visual aid.  =)

Now how cool is it when you get a jumping picture in front of the State Capitol with your crush?  Times TWO!!  Seth (red tie) AND Max (middle)!!!

Connor had a sicky day that day... and Zeus always picks up on this and plants himself by the sicky kids.  =)

That same day, we had Activity Days at the Wingers having an Articles of Faith treasure hunt and organizing little cards to help memorize them.

Then Thursday, the dogs found the mouse for us again in the craft room.  We all worked on it together; Chloe was the hero who sniffed it out most precisely for us.  When I put it on the deck for the dogs to take care of, Zeus snatched it like lightning and ran away with it.  Can you see it?

But he made the mistake of setting it down for a second while Chloe was on the prowl.  Hahaha!  She snatched it and trotted away with Zeus trailing behind...

Inline image 2

AND WENT BETWEEN THE FENCE POSTS.  She dropped it and had this little standoff with Zeus, like "What're you gonna do about it?" She chewing it in front of him, then tried to bury it for later.  Hahahahaha!!!!!!

Finally, on Friday, the frog!  Derek in Science.  He got a female with all the eggs... he was thrilled about how everything smelled and looked.  Ew. =)

And finally, our most exciting news of the week.  Morgan & I went to Petco for their adoption event and came home with this British Shorthair kitty.  She's 6 months old, and we're giving her a trial period:  you have to learn to get along with Sterling & the dogs, or you don't get to stay.  Meet Xena, the Warrior Princess:

She's a normal kitty, which we've never had before.  She loves to snuggle and stay on your lap forever.  And she's a white tiger cat!!

Inline image 4

Her intro to Zeus didn't go well.  She couldn't care any less about Chloe, the non-threatening mop.  =)  One swipe when Chloe got close, and Chloe now knows who's boss and doesn't mind at all.  Zeus still wants to play so bad.  He keeps whining at her and trying to convince her that he's nice and they should wrestle.

So Carlie posted this. Hahahaha!  She says something about not being good at drawing or coloring or something.  It's awesome!

So Saturday Carlie went to an performance workshop put on by the Young Ambassadors during the day, and then Dad, Morgan & Derek went with her to the concert at the HS that night.

Carlie's EFY counselor Kelsey was in the performance!  Carlie's totally famous now.

And that's our week!  Mostly animals this week, but look at this face!!  And those CLAWS.  They have to go ASAP.

We had a cool SS lesson today about the Fall.  I love that we have an understanding of what happened in the garden from modern revelation.  That we can see that Eve made a choice to become like God and leave the garden so she could fulfill all the commandments God had given them.  And then Adam chose to follow her.  They gave us a chance to be here, even though it would be harder for them.

I love that even though Satan has power to nip at our heels, we have a body, and we have power to crush his head, if we choose.  He is not actually stronger than we are.  Sometimes, when we're vulnerable, we think he is, or it seems like we're overwhelmed.  But we have power to rise above anything he throws at us.

I love that I have all these children in our family.  We can do great things, and I know Satan knows that, so he tries to thwart us on every hand.  We have to stay diligent, and see his influence around us so we can crush it.  We have to learn to love and serve each other.  When we're tempted to lose our temper with each other, we have to learn to calm ourselves and speak the way Jesus would.  We have to learn to invite the spirit by talking about, viewing, and thinking of clean, honorable things.  It can still be fun and joyful - we just have to keep the dirty and lower things out of our home.

Love you so much and can hardly wait to talk to you tomorrow!!!
