Inktober

So Miranda came home from her mission a couple weeks early to have some surgery, but I have this great excuse to still write our family history down, since her novio is still on his mission in Paris, France for the next year.  So until May 9, 2019, I'll still write a missionary letter for our blog posts.  =)

So this year, when Carlie announced her intentions to participate in Inktober, she posted the days and themes and rules.  Basically, draw a picture with ink in the theme of the day.  Then she got started.

A few of us decided to secretly join her.  She's finding out as she reads this, that we did Inktober with her.  Me:

That day, Miranda found this little critter waiting for her after class to hitch a ride back home:

Tuesday, Halle & Kierste had a random soccer game... I love that in UT county, they rearrange the game schedule to accommodate Conference on the weekend.

When the game ended, my friend Alex told me she needed to go out to eat STAT.  So I went with her, naturally... I mean, she is my ministering sister, so I HAD to go to Provo to eat Indian food with her, right?

Zeus was so cute peeking around the edge of the couch while I was gone...

And the Inktober pieces were released. Carlie:

Wednesday, I found these gems on my phone while they were waiting for their carpool for school:

And after school:

From JK Studios.  This just made me LOL.

IMG_0073.jpg

We all ran out to see the rainbow in the afternoon.  We have had the rainiest weather.  We're so grateful the fires are totally out now.

IMG_0125.JPG

I got a bonus text with this character on it:

It was National Boyfriend Day!

On Thursday, Jeff took Miranda to her chemo treatment, and I got this picture of eyelashes & eyebrows!!  They're starting to come back.  Yahooo!!!

IMG_9635.JPG

I attended my Parent-Teacher conferences for the kids, and in H&K's class, they had their monsters on display.  I LOVE THEM.  Halle:

Kierste:

And Connor's class had these cool "backpacks" on the wall, where inside they listed some of their favorite things.  Connor's favorite food is pizza, his favorite song is, "Whatever it Takes" (Imagine Dragons), his fave TV show is Voltron, and he wants to be an inventor when he grows up.

IMG_0123.jpg

And this was National Taco Day.  I have something to say about a National Taco Day that is set to be on a THURSDAY instead of a Tuesday.  What the heck.  But we celebrated anyway.  I decided to try some steak tacos I had seen a cool video on...  This pan of meat drove Zeus INSANE, but he knows he's not allowed to stand in the kitchen and trip me while I'm cooking, so he makes these passes around the outside of the bar and just sniffs the air over & over in passing.

IMG_0128.jpg

He's so sneaky and funny.  I had to get a picture this time:

IMG_0126.JPG

Turns out the video looked amazing but the spices were weak, so we spruced it up and everyone loved it.

IMG_0130.JPG

Then I ran outside to get a picture of this amazing cloud formation that was moving low, separate from the higher dark clouds.  As soon as I was done taking this, and finishing off above dish of food, I got a call from the twins at soccer practice... I didn't realize I had taken a picture of the cloud that was on its way to DUMP ITSELF COMPLETELY OUT on my daughters!  There was no visibility for Carlie to drive there and get them, but I assured her that OF COURSE they would be sitting in their coach's minivan waiting for parents... NOPE.  He had totally just taken off and they were waiting in the torrential downpour outside.  Wow, I had no words.

That night, Miranda went to her mission reunion!  Here's a few of the 50ish missionaries who came:

And some of them went out afterward to hang out.  I'm so glad there are so many of them around to do this!

This came down the pipes from One With Many Names.

Little did she know that we didn't RIP Inktober.  Day 4 - Spell.  Jeff:

And that night, we got SNOW on the mountain!!  Friday morning - I'm not sure if you can see the snow... there's this kind of bug thing on the window...

IMG_0139.jpg

I gave some blood, went to lunch with my cousin, and then I got a text that there was no one at the school to break down & pack up the book fair.  So when I got home, I asked these rockstars to follow me to the school and help pack it up. They got in Carlie's car without complaining, and went Back to Their Roots...

IMG_0149.JPG

Totally saved us, packing up all the boxes and folding up the big carts of books.

Along the way, Carlie found a Voltron book she had to have... we had no money, so my friend bought it for her, and I Venmo'd her... and Carlie will for sure "venmo" me... I just know it.

While I stayed and counted the money from the book fair, they headed off to the BYU v. UT State game:

On the way home, they found part of Kierste's Halloween costume.  Here's Miranda, expertly modeling it for us:

I love all the hype about Conference right before.  Especially when some of it comes from my own daughter:

IMG_0160.jpg

So Inktober continues at the end of Day 5 - Chicken.  We all decided to go a little abstract or bizarre =)    Miranda:

Saturday was a gorgeous day for games.  Before Conference, Morgan played an early game.  Jeff got some great pics of him... I LOVE header pics.  Here's a before & after header:

IMG_0164.JPG

IMG_0165.JPG

What I've always loved about Morgan playing soccer, is he's always having a good time.  I absolutely love seeing him smile while he plays.  I'm so proud of him for sticking out this year with his sucky team.  Things don't always go the way we want them to.  We don't always get circumstances we wanted.  What matters is how we make the best of it.  I am so proud, if I didn't say that already.

IMG_0173.JPG

Then Conference ensued.  Everyone brings bean bags, blankets, pillows, animals (live and stuffed) and totally gets comfortable.

IMG_9653.JPG

Morgan the animal whisperer.

IMG_0164.jpg

In between sessions, Morgan had a Driver's Ed drive, and Connor had a game.  He tried his hand at goalie.  Oh he was the cutest goalie they ever had.

IMG_0233.JPG

During the second session, I thought it was so cute that Jeff had grabbed Carlie's glasses to draw a sneaky Inktober entry.

IMG_0174.JPG

For the Women's session, we stayed home in our PJ's, and watched at home. Carlie got this of the twins,

IMG_8378 2.jpg

And I got this of Miranda & Carlie... or was I just taking this because Zeus is fully just resting his head on Miranda's head.  Hard to tell.

IMG_8380 2.jpg

Then my fully-immersed daughters took Pres. Nelson's challenges to us to heart:

IMG_0175.jpg

IMG_0176.jpg

And Inktober Day 5 - "Drool" made its appearance (on our cameras).  Jeff's means so much more than mine.  If you know Chloe's favorite thing to lick...

IMG_0202.jpg

IMG_0196.jpg

Sunday morning Conference always starts with bacon cups.  This year, Jeff did some with mozzarella, some with runny yolks, some with cream cheese, and all with chives.  Perfecting his craft each Conference. =)

IMG_0185.jpg

Conference was amazing, as you probably know.  I hope you got to watch all of it!  Wow on the talks about taking the name of Christ upon us... and I don't think Pres. Nelson is kidding around about changing how we take upon the church His name.  He doesn't seem to care what the world thinks; like building the kingdom and following Christ is more important than everything else we're doing... now to follow his example.  =)

IMG_0180.JPG

Tonight we went to Carol's to celebrate Mark's bday.  Jeff & some of his siblings got him a Jazz/ Mitchell jersey, which they should be able to order for him soon.  Hopefully they can get their money back from the Nigerian scam they sent $89 to already.  But he is going to LOVE this if they can get their hands on it soon.

IMG_0241.JPG

Today was the day 2 years ago that Miranda opened her mission call... what a great, wonderful day that was, when we first wondered where the heck Cochabamba, Bolivia was.

IMG_0259.jpg

And that quintessential picture of you guys was born. I can't find it right now, but you know the one.

And my Day 7 of Inktober - Exhausted.

The kids were sad that this was missing from the last few letters:

xoxoxoxooxoxooxoxooxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoo, Us

That's not as scary as it looks right off.  There are a lot of us, so it's only a couple hugs & kisses from each of us.  =)
