{For 18 months – Jan ’17 to Jul ’18 – I’m posting our letter to Miranda while she's on her mission to
Cochabamba, Bolivia. Our letter titles are taken from a list of family
sayings & catchphrases we recorded onto a pillowcase she has with
her. You can read her adventures on her mission blog:

Ok, Kiddo. Here's our week, as fast as I can type. =)
Last Sunday, I made angel food cake for Sunday dessert, and I got to have one of those pinterest fail moments... It overflowed all over the oven; I scraped it off the bottom, put the cakes back in on this cookie sheet, and voila!! NAILED IT:
We got a normal cat for the first time ever. Her normalcy will be "peppered" through this letter. See what I did there? First of all, she lays on homework:
Comes and cuddles with you on the couch during FHE:
And finds a person to sleep with every night. Halle (and sometimes Morgan) were the lucky ones Monday night:
Tuesday, we got our 5th driver in the family!!
Xena is found on a different person's bed every day when they come home from school.
We barbequed (it's Fall weather, NOT WINTER - we haven't worn coats except for once or twice. T-shirts and maybe light jackets) and tried to turn the burgers into the ones we ate in Kauai... it's a work in progress. We'll share our progress with you in 5.5 months. =)
Daddy had a really good day of skiing! See if you notice anything missing from this picture. =)
Xena finds the most obscure places to spend the afternoon sometimes:
The kids needed to have a screen-free week to kind of learn to get along better. So during Mutual, they printed off stuff & colored:
Thursday was Derek's bed:
And parent/teacher conferences:
And this aMAZing sunset. Everyone at home was taking pics, too, but this one is right as I walked out of Wally. No filter:
And still Thursday was Morgan's last real game. Now we're on to the tournament next week:
Ok, I love watching Morgan play, but I also love watching Daddy coach. I love how much he cares about the game AND the boys. Some of the parents are yelling at the boys and care so much more about winning than the development and teamwork of the boys.

The presentation was aMAZing. They used SYNCHRONIZED DRONES to create 3D images in the sky: a snowboarder flying down the slope, and the olympic rings... it completely changed the world of entertainment.

And Saturday, too. The piano is covered with her paw prints & fur:
We are in Read-a-thon week, and Friday was PJ day (and 5th grade store... see H&K's wares?)
Today Xena chose the piano... she was there all during school and into the evening. So funny.
Here is the girls' store front. They sold play-doh, candy, stress balls they made, and all the stuff their friend Haley had brought.
Friday night Grandma threw an Opening Ceremonies party for the Olympics. Like the rice crispie rings and torches? So cute:
Dad captured Bolivia for you.
Flying through the air!
Daddy went shooting fully automatic rifles with his brothers & Gpa that Higbee had brought with him:
Connor had TWO Nerf birthday parties to go to this weekend. One at James Castleton's house:
And one at a NERF ARENA. What a great idea!! An indoor arena with places to hide with gear, guns & ammo provided:
Saturday night, we went to Tsunami with the Edwards. Elijah Bryant (BYU basketball) walked in, and Dad was getting this surreptitious photo, and also got Summer Hancey in there... she's in the black top. Remember her from PA? Lost their house in the tornado? It was Sweetheart's Dance for most of the high schools in the area. =)
And last picture: Sterling has mostly stayed hidden in the basement since Xena came here, so having him totally commit to watching the girls get ready for church and hanging out in their room was kind of a shock. He's warming up to her, but she has bee swiping him with her claws, so I HOPE this can work, but I just don't know.
Ok, let's get a couple memes on here. Morgan saw this one from my pics this week and set it as his wallpaper. Hahahaha!
And from the Superbowl last week:
And some Valentine's Day/ love:
And one serious:
Love you! Hope I caught you before you are gone!!! ~Mom
