🎵 Spooky, Scary Family 🎶

So Miranda came home from her mission a couple weeks early to have some surgery, but I have this great excuse to still write our family history down, since her novio is still on his mission in Paris, France for the next year.  So until May 9, 2019, I'll still write a missionary letter for our blog posts.  =)

So obviously, this is Halloween week.  But first, it was Ribbon Week at Westfield, where each day they raise school awareness for drug, internet, stranger danger, and health.  Crazy hair & socks day started Monday off.

Miranda found - I mean made - a Bolivia leaf... so gorgeous. No filter:

And then.  Since Jeff's mom gave us 3 of their giant pumpkins, Jeff decided that the other 4 needed to be 50# or more, too... so the gargantuan carving began.

IMG_0619.JPG

There are some great videos of the kids dancing while they carve, while Spooky, Scary Skeletons, as well as Thriller, etc. play on the HomePod.  Notice Miranda's lovey cats. =)

Then, as soon as carving was done, we started on dying Derek's hair SILVER for his costume.  He was his online character Jacob from the HP game.  Here's the problem.  Morgan started messing around with my phone and kept saying "Ok, Derek.  Do your sexy face." So it was REALLY HARD to keep a serious face like he wanted.

And waiting for the silver to develop:

Meanwhile, Jeff ran by his mom's house while he was out, and got a pic of the Christmas commercial for Jane.com being shot by JK! Studios in their living room.  =)

That night, Connor was up sick all night, so I had this little pal on the couch Tuesday, watching shows and trying to keep things down.  =(

Carlie & Morgan were on their way to meet Miranda to shop for their Halloween costumes (EPIC), and they witnessed an accident.

IMG_8653.jpg

So like a dutiful citizen, Carlie stayed to fill out the paperwork.  =)

IMG_0868.jpg

That night, we rinsed brown into my son's gorgeous blond hair.  It almost makes me have a heart attack when they talk about changing their hair at all because all 3 of my sons have beautiful, unfair hair.  But this was for a good cause.

IMG_8670.jpg

And finally the big day is here!  The kids head off to their Halloween parade at school.  Not allowed to wear their giant heads during class, so we painted their faces.  =)

IMG_0718.JPG

Total success.  With their wolf friend Talia and her little sis.

IMG_0795.JPG

Poor Carlie, without her posse, just got called a Christmas tree all day.  =(  No one guessed Joyce.

IMG_0940.jpg

And Miranda opted for panda on campus.  =)

IMG_0869.jpg

So this year, we were all going different directions, even though all 9 of us were in Highland together on Halloween night.  We didn't take our traditional group pic, dang it.  So here's everyone separately:

Connor climbing our wall.

And he heads out with Nathan the Jawa to gather teeth-rotting happiness.

IMG_9770.JPG

H&K head out with Talia to gather the same... hope they get me all the good stuff I need!!  jk

IMG_0796.JPG

Derek heads out with his friends as Jacob.  Here's my handsome son (we're trying to capture the silver, and it's hard in this house light.  You'll just have to take it from us that his hair was a cool silver.

And here he is as Jacob from Pottermore; House of HufflePuff:

Before Morgan came home, Miranda had her blood on, so this picture is very important to include.

IMG_9781.jpg

Then Steve got there, and things got real.

IMG_9788.JPG

We had to do the traditional "dump-out and photograph the haul" pic with all the trick-or-treaters. The boys even stood in line for 45 min to wait to go through an epic neighborhood haunted yard.  The neighbors make it bigger and more elaborate every year, and is super huge.

Carlie posted these little doodles of herself... Poor Joyce.

That night, someone with a lot of time and coolness on their hands did this in Cedar Hills right by the HS.

Thursday, Jeff brought me flowers.  So sweet.  Went perfectly with the Fall outside.

IMG_0748.jpg

And that afternoon, Carlie & Morgan went to I Heart Tech day at Adobe for some tech presentations. SO COOL.

Miranda watched Coco in Spanish for Guess which class.

IMG_0944.JPG

As she was FT me that night, she got a bloody nose, and I just had to screenshot.  It was such a funny adventure going with her around her apartment, getting set down, running back, and BAM.  This is the Miranda that comes back and keeps talking to me.  Haha!

IMG_0777.jpg

Friday, I took Connor & his buddies to Kangaroo Zoo... a giant warehouse play place with giant blow-ups and slides.  They were so funny all the way there, with their banter about school, and jumping with excitement about the party.

That night...

Also that night, Zeus came home.  He had run away during the day, but unlike usual, he was whimpering at the door, and limping into the house.  When I was still limping at bedtime, I was convinced he had gotten hit by a car, or something.  So Saturday morning, I got up early and got him a vet appointment.  He was hurting so bad, that he actually LAID DOWN on the ride there... he never rides without wanting his head out the front window.

IMG_0810.JPG

His adrenalin kicked in when we got to a new place, and he was so excited about all the animal smells.  He was such a good boy for his exam, even when they lowered that table, had him stand on it, and raised it back.

IMG_0815.JPG

But so unlike him, even though he was sniffing all the animal smells and longing to run out the door and find all the friends on the other side of the door, he laid down at my feet instead.  Poor, poor boy.  But after an expensive shot, some expensive pills, an expensive exam, we were on our way and he's doing much better.

IMG_0816.jpg

When we got home, we went to H&K's last game of the season.  Kierste:

Strikers will be back next Spring!

Do I even need to preface these any more?  Coolness happened:

And then we went to Morgan's last game.  The Dark Knights will hibernate, too.

IMG_1072.JPG

Jeff & I went out with our friends again that night.  They took us to an Italian place that did a flaming cheese wheel pasta.  So they start the plate and cheese wheel on fire, put the cooked pasta into the wheel of aged cheese, mixed it around, then served it to Jeff... super cool & super rich.

IMG_8734.JPG

Sunday, Miranda took this unfiltered pic of the leaves falling.  I was so afraid we would have a Blah year for leaf color because it started out that way.  But it has completely surprised us.

IMG_0866.jpg

Miranda brought Roomily (remember that's roomie Emily, not to be confused with bestie Emily; ok, I won't worry about explaining that again =) and Gezelle over for dinner and we didn't take a pic!!!  And when they left for ward prayer, my family was sitting around Sunday night playing Telestrations while I wrote one of your letters, I had to get a picture of them all together.  It's not always going to be like this.  =)

MEMES!

This pic came with a caption that said:

That's not how that's supposed to work

And instead of a meaningful one, my friend posted this game. Sounds like a pretty cute idea.  Going around and finding emoji's in real life.

Also, it's time, even though it's not Thanksgiving yet, to start thinking of ways to serve and give for Christmas.  I'm excited, and just have to remember I can't do it all; just have to pick some things that work for us.  This is not to brag.  This is saying, I can easily feel guilty when I hear of cool things other people did, but our family needs to think of what works for us, and feel good about what we can do to show love for the Savior by loving other people.  Run at our own pace.

Have a great week!!!  Love, us
